Norway has a charm of its own with its rugged and serene landscapes filled with fjords, snow capped mountains, lakes and sea. Lofoten islands far north in the arctic circle are even more spectacular.
Here granite peaks rise straight from the sea and reflect in the calm waters of arctic. Then there are stunning turquoise green and blue hued white sand beaches which fit perfect in a tropical dream. Most stunning of which is the Kvalvika beach.
A short hike from the village of Fredvang, which is easily accessible by road brings you to the shores of Kvalvika. A great side trip is to trudge up the adjacent hill, Ryten for this spectacular view looking down the beach itself and the peaks, fjord lined behind.
While summers are a great time to go backpacking and camp at the beach, autumn and spring would fuel the photographer’s delight when northern lights lit up the night sky. The beach would be an ideal spot to the auroras and their reflections.
