Wendover Woods

Situated in the middle of the Chiltern Hills, Wendover Woods has become a favourite location of mine. Managed by the Forestry Commission, the woods are made up of mature beech and pine trees. They are also a magnet for mist and fog, hence why they are a favourite place for me to visit.

I take all of my photographs early in the morning before the woods get busy with other visitors. In the wintertime it can stay misty for a big part of the day, but in the summer mist usually disappears by 8am.

If you would like to visit these beautiful woods, it is worth noting that the main entrance gate is closed until 8am, although there are several places close by where it is possible to park and walk up to see the woods.

There is also a friendly cafe in Wendover Woods, which is open from 9am and serves hot and cold food and drinks. I often treat myself to a strong coffee and a tasty bacon sandwich after scrambling up and down the highest part of the Chilterns.

The image above was taken on a Monday morning in September before I started work for the day. To see further pictures I have taken at Wendover Woods throughout the year, click here.
